Default Tyson Who Defeated Spinks vs 2 Alis (Liston & Frazier Mint)

Which Ali does Tyson have the most success against?

The Ali that beat Liston was faster, more agile, younger, and brashly confident. He was also less experienced and did not yet know that his chin was as stout as he would learn later in his career.

The Ali that beat Frazier (II and III) was slower and less athletic. Yet, he was a master gamesman and had seen it all. He could out psyche nearly anyone and may understand how to manuever his way into Tyson´s psyche even moreso than the young Ali.

Thoughts?

It's always a controversial subject, but I feel Tyson beats him on both occassions. Ali has the psyche advantage, but Tyson has the style and a severe speed advantage(fastest HW ever, not Ali). Mint, he just got tagged so much, against Folley especially, who was able to walk in and time big right hands repeatedly early on Ali and this is a nothing special fringe contender here, much less a powerhouse HW ATG.

You can look at Ali's record, see all of the legendary wins, but there is nobody there like Tyson. Frazier gave him hell later on, but always would have been a stylistic trouble for him. What he lacked in speed later, he made up for in far better ring intelligence and defensive prowess, as his prime he could slip shots well, but still got tagged A LOT by decent to solid fighters. So the different status of pre and post-exile is overrated IMO, as he was still pretty good in the early 70s, with highly increased ring intelligence and tactics.

So prime/prime I think Tyson comes in and bulldozes him. Ali wouldn't know what hit him with his open ended defence and contrary to popular belief, he could and would be stopped due to not being able to deal with a quicker fighter than him, with legendary 1 punch KO power.

Tyson vs. post-exile Ali, I think Ali has a significant chance, as he can wear Tyson down and weather the storm. But I'd still take Tyson early to mid by TKO, he's got a tremendous style advantage here and prime was 3x the fighter Joe Frazier was.

My thoughts.

For me, i do believe that prime Ali, which would be the Liston version (regardless of the advantages the Frazier version had, which acb outlined very well) is possibly the best h2h heavy ever, actually i think he is. But Tyson may be number 2 imo, in his absolute best only though.

I must say that i take the Liston Ali over Tyson, the other version seemed tougher, but only because he had to be, i think Ali was very tough throughout his entire career. BUT, Tyson is no Joe Frazier, and would have a good chance at that secnd version of Ali imo. On the subject of Tyson and Frazier being different- Frazier swarmed alll over his opponents, relying heavily on his great left hook, whereas Tyson used brilliant head movement and footwork to open up his opponents' defences, along with his two handed and very varied arsenal. For me, Tyson was much better than Frazier, technically aswell.

Anyway, on the night, i give Tyson a chance, but I still pick Ali in this one aswell. I just think that if they fight just once, where i must pick one ultimate wiinner, as much as im a Tyson fan and not an Ali fan, i believe Ali's greater greatness (sounds silly!) will shine through.

Just my opinion.
