I recently read in Durans book (Hands of Stone) that after the weigh-in for the SRL rematch he ate an insane meal, something like 2 steaks, potatoes, fried chicken, and more things (can't remember off hand) which lead him to the supposed "stomach pains" during the match. What are your guys thoughts on this? Was it actually stomach pains that made him quit or was he just extremely frustrated with SRLs taunting?

IMO its pure bullshit. More of a story of two divergent paths-
Duran let the success get to his head and didnt prepare properly, while Leonard worked his ass off and came with the correct gameplan. A motivated Leonard who wasnt going to brawl, but rather box, would beat Duran at ´47 more often than that. Add to that the shitty lifestyle of Duran and you just had a guy who knew his number was going to be had and quit. |

I thought somewhere it said something along the lines of "Im not fighting that clown anymore"? Not entirely sure, but who knows 100%? Duran wasnt the stereotypical quitter, far from it, but he sure was getting frustrated by SRL in that fight..... ok,ok..I find it hard to say he quit!
