![]() Then again, with the way I drink, I probably should be 10-15 pounds lighter. I'm currently at 185. |

Oh yeh my man, cut out the alcohol, eat lean meats consistenly, and watch that 6 pack come out of nowhere (of course running greatly helps too). When I got my leg out of the cast I had completely lost my six pack. After only one month of little to no alcohol and workng my abs every day while eating great it was back

abs need time to heal like any other muscle in your body. Theres really no need to work them every day. You should give them at least 1 day of rest inbetween if you want more strength in your core. Low body fat percentage and strong abs is basically what you need to have them pop out for the infamous "6 pack"...Aside from the fact that If you're boxing then you're already working your abs every day....So to concentrate your abs so intensely as well as everything else (every day) is just straight up over kill. Theres really no need for it, If you want cut abs then focus on cutting your body fat percentage instead with Cardio because you'd definitely get more out of it than doing so many crunches per day
(this wasn't a response to any post on this thread...just my 2 cents lol) Last edited by jecxbox; 08-20-2008 at 12:01 AM. |

My body is hard as a rock, but I don't have serious 'cut definition'. |

I have a very crappy metabolism and I really have to work hard to get my body low. I'm 5'7 and walk around at 140lbs +/- 2 or 3 lbs. My abs generally do not show unless I cut down to 130lbs or lower, perhaps if I built them up stronger they'd show more around 132lbs or something, But I just can't walk around under 130lbs its way to light for me. how tall are you..whats your weight and do you got a small/medium/large frame? |

Medium frame 5'11 and 185lbs? My guess is that if you pushed it you could hit 170lbs and your abs would definitely bulge out. Do you do any cardio? If you don't do any cardio at all and you aren't on a diet and you weigh 185 than you can definitely cut 10-15lbs. Try it out and you'll have the midsection that you want lol because just about anyone that is somewhat inactive and is eating a loose diet should be able to burn at least 10lbs minimum from that state regardless of metabolism. Just about everyone has 10lbs of water weight from the weight that they walk around at. You should try doing hardcore cardio just about everyday and do your abs just twice a week, trust me you'll have your abs. Last edited by jecxbox; 08-24-2008 at 03:05 PM. |

I work my abs 6 days a week, v sit ups, leg raises, twisting sit ups, and side crunches 2 sets per exercise. i dont train to failure so that i can get in more reps for the next set normaly 50-80 per set. Im not boasting but once i tyred testing myself doing basic sit ups around 250 or so they just went numb and i kept going to about 800 sounds crazy i know but its funny what you can do with your mind but i regret doing it because in the morning it felt like i had been hit by a truck lol but i guess i have learnt from it not to over train.

I dont do any sit ups, eat a load of crap that ricky hatton would actuallly not eat - yet i still am insanely slim, have a six pack - and it's fairly solid as well - not rock hard, but solid enough for no work at all!
I'm just blessed though... My body, my looks, my charm... God it's great being the coolest person on the internet....

I want to make another point on this.
I read guys doing 200 odd situps a day - you're probably not excersing proper form. i actually took a major interest in bodybuilding back when i used to go to the gym - i had a big book of body building by Joe Weider (founder of modern body building inc. the Mr Olympia comp.). it contains many routines and full excercise patterns for all different muscle groups - including abs. if you are doing proper crunches, and excercising perfect form - you dont need to do that many. remember you need to give your muscles time to engage in hypertrophy. If it was me - i'd do 20 each week night, with breaks over weekend, then increase in ten for the week. lie on the floor - if you have a ab roller (where you sit up and it rolls up with you), use that, then put your legs over your head - on a chair or bed. only crunch - if you do a full situp, you'll be missing a large part of your lower abdominals. i then do half the number going up and down - conventional, with legs in air, then second half twisting alternately. this helps to work on the intercostals and will improve your abs strength and look.
