I do the 8 minute ab routine twice everyday, so thats 16 minutes.
I still have a lot of body fat to cut before I can see some ABs but its better to work on them now and see it pay dividends later on. |

I mainly do crunches actually. I typically do 25 regular, 25 with knees up, 25 with leg straight up, 25 right elbow to left knee, 25 left elbow to right knee, then back to regular crunches until I can't do anymore (which isn't that many). I do this at minimum once a day, usually twice. When I first started I had to do sets of 10 of each, so it took me a little while to get up to sets of 25. And to mix up my routine I do them in different orders sometimes, or every now and then I just work my abs with different excercises

I just do the Edge one 3 days a week, and have a couple ab workouts mixed with my boxing I do 5-6 times a week, and my HIIT routine has jackknifes in it(I do HIITS every other day, roadwork on the others of course)....They are hard as hell even alone after doing the Edge workout 3 times before hand.

I currently do 75 crunches, and 50 pushups, and increases this number by 5 every 3rd day. Needless to say I just restarted not long ago - after 6 months of doing absolutely nothing. I only do this routine once every day - and that's just too weak of me, but I take it somewhat slow, and haven't changed the techniques yet.
I try also each day to make it a little more difficult to do these things - slower pushups, and hardening the abdomen a little more each time. It won't be long til I will do push-ups on the knuckles soon - but I haven't done this in years. Unfortunately I don't have any equipment to increase the resistance, but I know the correct techniques. I should do more things - but this suffices for an old man like I - for now. |

This is why people who can do millions of pushups or crunches typically don't impress me. If you watch them they are usually cheating, or skimping out at some point. Infact I have been told by a personal trainer before that if you can do more than 20 situps you are either doing them wrong or should do them differently (harder) so that you cant make much over 20. Not sure about that, but its interesting coming from a trainer

I do about 500 crunches a day, different variants. Also the 'hover', do it three times a day and hold it for 2 minutes after 150 crunch intervals.
Normally do it all in one workout. |

I think you could do much more than 20, but going above 100 then I think you are doing something wrong. Having said that - doing 20 and just increasing the resistance each time, could be a good way to go about it, because at some point - people(including me) just want to have a high number to feel that they progress, but without equipment, its their is a limit of resistance you can reach. Maybe he just feels that it's healthier to do this, and just do it more times a day. I think I should do this, when maximizing my resistance. At least this is the ways I was taught, when I trained Shotokan. |
