Cjl-- getting ready to fight or just staying in shape?

If the former, high altitude training will fit the bill in getting you ready to perform, mainly by conditioning your body to perform with less oxygen and therefore setting it up to perform even better with more oxygen when performing the day of..

If the latter, I dont think it makes much of a difference. High altitude training IMO is for athletes looking for a competitive advantage, not so much for the guy just trying to stay in good shape.

yep in terms of boxing..i used to do just basic jogging because i tire out more easily if jogging upwards the mountain...although when i get used to it i noticed improvements(for example i can do 40 mins after last week) but it is very tiresome

Personally I rather do high intensity interval training(sprinting/keeping the heartrate high), but I do it for a goodlooking body and not fight training.

Well, when I run I do long distance, usually 3-5 miles... I also live in the mountains, so I have no choice but to run high altitude, a good thing I guess eh?

if Im doing HIIT I usually dont use sprints cause I have no way of measuring the distance, and I dont have a timer I can do them with outside... Burpees are my main HIIT workout.

Its NOT how long you run, But HOW you run!....Can't emphasize that enough. Whats the use of light jogging like a turtle for 3 hours if you can't turn up the heat and do it for 3 minutes?

Try running at the highest intensity you can for 3 minute intervals and rest with 1 minute in between as if it was a simulation of actual boxing rounds. I'm not talking about sprinting, But do it at a pace where you know you can carry it out for a while but at the same time really gets to you @ every 3 minute span. Do that and I guarantee that you'll be ready to fight every minute of your rounds.
