I believe going to the gym all by yourself is the hardest thing in the world. If I had a constant partner I think I would really be motivated to go. I don't have no one to spot when lifting. Nor do I have some one to push me to the limit. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to do this.
Also I have another question I will be starting school on the 25th of this month. My work schedule and school is a bitch can someone help me with a with a plan so I can go to the gym, study, and have my family life. I wake up at 6:00 AM in the morning, because I have to get my duaghter ready to go to my moms house. I live about 35 minutes from UNLV, BUT 5 MINUTES FROM MY JOB. The thing is I'm going to be sleepy as hell because 6 or 5 1/2 hours of sleep isn't good to me and I don't want all this to messup my family life. I know someone has had a busy schedule like this before. How did yall do it? I t may seem easy because of the gap of time, but I'm in my major which means alot more school work. Plus I know my lazy ass girl will say I don't spend enuff time with them. So please help me yall School M-W 8:30 AM-10:15 AM T-TH 8:30AM-12:45 PM I have to keep my daughter on Fridays all day until work Work M-F 3:00 -11:00 PM |

Having a good partner is priceless, but if your partner is only mediocre then they might be slowing you down. I prefer working out alone, because I have intense workouts and my friends just drag me back and it gets on my nerves. Depends on the person, but imo its all mental. Just get yourself in the mindset and your workout will be phenominal. You have to want it. So if you have to smack yourself around a bit to psyche out go for it. lol
My schedule was pretty hectic, but I worked night hours and had the luxury of working out at work if I had to. But heres what my old one was: Monday and Wednesday: Work 9pm to 6am. Go to bed at 7:30am. Get up at 3pm and go for a half hour jog immediately. Hit the gym at 4:30pm to 6:30. Eat dinner and take a shower (very quickly) then head to class at 7pm (yes I was late all the time, lol). Head to work at 9pm Tuesday and Thursday: Work 8pm to 6am. Go to class at 7am to 9. Go to bed at 10am. Get up at 3:30pm and go for a half hour jog. Hit the gym at 5pm to 7pm. Go to work. Friday: Get up at 3pm and go for a half hour jog. Go to class from 5-9pm. Sat and Sun: had these days off. I would have liked to rotate them so I didn't have two days off in a row but my schedule wouldn't allow me. Basically my mon-thursdays were nuts, and I didn't have time for anything extra (barely had time to go to the bathroom, lol). It can be done my man, it just takes extreme diligence. There were many times when I just wanted to say screw it, but for the most part I stuck to the schedule very well. I dont think this helps you at all, because I was on night hours, but to be quite honest with you if you are just looking to get in shape and look good you dont need to be hitting the gym for more than even 45 minutes imo. In fact you can even just workout at home. The only problem with working out at home is actually getting around to doing it with all the distractions. I like the idea of heading to the gym, mainly because you are only going there for one reason: to work out. I like to stress a healthy diet quite a bit, because since you are not looking to be mr universe you should be able to gain some lean muscle very quickly and then if you strip off some fat you should look great. Just set aside an hour 3-5 times per week to workout, get a handle on the foods your eating (and drinking), and you will see results.....FAST. Trust me on that one |

so you got school from 8.30 - 10:15am and then a Gap till 3pm?....I'm assuming when you get outta school you might have to go back to moms house to pick up your kid right? I can only suggest to you a couple things. 1 - Eat well and I mean eat really well. Are you Latino? You know we got the rice plentiful well make sure you got carbs in you throughout your day because your going to need it...Thats a long day and trying to be on a diet with a long day like that and lack of sleep DOES NOT MIX, I know because I've tried it and I felt like killing myself. I'm assuming you want to get that lifting in mainly to just keep your energy level up in your every day life. Your only time to work out is going to be between school 10:15AM and 3:00PM. And I'm pretty sure you're going to be hungry as hell as you'd be awake from 6am to 10am. Problem one is if you get home from school, you're going to want to chill out hense you're going to get sleepy/tired. Problem two if you eat a big meal straight out of school you definitely aren't going to want to work out. Most realistic thing you can do is when you get out of school eat a very high calorie snack..something that boosts your energy (nuts, carbohydrate bar, peanut butter, hell even honey!... etc with some water or milk). You won't get that lazy feeling from eating a big meal and it will just spike your energy temporarily. At this point you have to work out right away since you're already "out and about" getting out of school and you've eaten that small little energy snack. And get your ass into a gym asap. After your work out eat a big meal carbs/protein mix. Carbs help your body take in protein as it makes you release insulin to drop blood sugar levels from your blood into your muscle tissue, which gets the protein where it has to go(your muscles). People like to take pure protein after their workout without the carbs, not realizing that they've depleted their carbohydrates during their workout and will feel like shit throughout the whole day because of it (plus you'd be going to work so you have to eat carbs regardless) About your lack of a weight lifting partner situation. All through high school I had really good weight lifting partners, but when I got to college I was the only one. And a solution to this is just be nice to the guys at the gym, yeah there can be stuck up pricks at a gym but there are always a lot of guys that are awesome. Get to know them just at the gym, ask them to spot you, ask them if they want you to spot them, ask them about their work out plan/what they eat etc stupid shit like that. Eventually most lifters will be glad to spot you and push you just as if they were your work out partner. But i guess this also depends on how busy your gym is, I lift at the gym at the university and its absolutely packed. Finally when you come from work, go to sleep right away lol. Walk away from the TV and just go to sleep because that is a messed up schedule! BTW with that schedule I'd only lift Monday Wednesday and Saturday....(don't even bother lifting on tues/thurs/fri) Last edited by jecxbox; 08-25-2008 at 04:45 PM. |

Thanks yall, I know it will be hard. But I'm going to try my best at it. No I'm not Latino but I hear it alot from other Latins. They think I'm Dominican or Puerto Rican sometimes. I tell them to look at the hair, I'm straight n***a lol

I hate math but im good at it. I need sooo much too its sick. I have to go calc 3 and beyond to advanced matrices and other shit. And btw just cause you do math doesn't mean your a genius. In my opinion its just a lot of memorization and repitition....kind of like boxing. Ok thats a bit far.....lol. But you just have to do the busy work and keep up, otherwise you are surely screwed
