Anyway, Ottke is the biggest fraud of all time, his reign was complete bullshit from the start, as it began with a bad gift decision over Brewer, continuing with multiple gift decisions and plenty of 'controversial fights'. As per cheating, Ottke is the king of this. Corrupt German boxing promotion made sure that he stayed champion at all cost and he avoided any elite fighters what so ever, such as Joe Calzaghe. I hope he ends up broke and never financially recovers. |

Any legitimate top level fighter is clearly better than Ottke. At least they compete within reasonable rules and also - they don't recieve gift after gift to 'win' fights.
If things were on reasonable terms and rules over in Germany during Ottke's fraudulent reign, he'd have about 7 legitimate losses. |

Ottke was pretty hard to watch at times but could be effective. Joe would have outpointed him comfortably in my opinion but he wouldn't have knocked him out. It's a shame Joe didn't relinquish his bauble to get a ranking with the IBF. He could have forced a fight with Ottke that way.

Oh yes they would have, if it meant staying in Germany, they'd allow one title to suffice. Calzaghe is a one sided loss anywhere outside of Germany, possibly even in Germany, around 2001-2004, a stoppage for Calzaghe is very likely.

Ottke didn't get the WBA belt until quite late in his career so if Calzaghe had targeted him when he had just one belt he would have forced the fight. But that was the story of Joe's career, minimum risk.

Ottke was a master to make others underperform. Thats why all the fights I have seen has been dull as a ball. As my man, Amsterdam said, he has had so many gift decisions that it's not even funny.
As a defensively boxer he is underrated though. He just didn't have anything to offer offensively. |

How many of you have actually seen the majority of these so-called robberies? I get the impression that most people just repeat what they've heard, as virtually everyone I've spoken to who has seen sufficient footage of Ottke(and most of the bouts that were considered robberies at one point or another) has said this was just a big, perpetuated myth, that he was by no means an exciting fighter, but the cries of robbery in the majority of his fights are completely undeserved.
I don't intend to suffer through too much of Ottke to find out, just wondering which of you actually have and which of you are continuing to perpetuate the myth. |
