At 140, Cotto was the epitome of crisp, sharp, snappy punching and outstanding technique. He was lighter on his feet back then and his power was awesome.

YouTube - Miguel Cotto vs Jacob Godinez

I just finished watching this from beginning to end! Watch this Brook!

Fuck the fact that he had weight issues at 140lbs man...ughhh he would have raped that division for years on end with that kind of speed and technique.

I put that fight on DVD a couple days ago. Disgusting body shot that put Godinez down. Seriously, there have been better body punchers, but Cotto's technique as far as the left hook to the body goes is as good as it gets. How about Cotto's professional debut when he dropped that guy with a jab. I remember watching that because I heard a little bit about Cotto from the olympics and I remember thinking that this kid isn't just any old prospect.

If Cotto could have made 140 comfortably, Hatton, Holt, and Bradley would have been systematically broken down and destroyed. Can you imagine Cotto-Pacquiao at 140?

Thats what I'm saying yo, That entire crew thats been at 140lbs over the past years and throw in the possible guys that would come up from 135lbs. They would have been eaten alive like so hard

I honestly think he is a better fighter at 147. He is just facing far better opponents thats all. He looked very sharp vs Judah, Mosley and Gomez. Even in the begining against Marg, his combination punching was very crisp.

A fighter in the mould of Margarito would have destroyed the 140 version of Cotto. I think some are forgetting the improvements he made as a fighter when moving up.

At 140 his stamina and chin had major issues. He didn't sit down on his punches earlier in his career either, as he was still fighting more as an amatuer to an extent.

I'd take Hatton that fought Tsyzu over Cotto - but more due to that cotto had more problems at 140. Maybe.. It'd be a war...
