Ill, when's your 5k again? Early May?
no doubt...im just struggling b/c my semester is ending so Ive been sleeping very little. But I think mixing up my schedule, doing some jumprope and basketball too had helped. Im starting to find a rhythm when I run, trying to put my body on auto pilot and staying there mentally...I see how big of a role that plays now b/c I have a short attention span.
Did 11 miles this morning, 1 hour 28 mins I think, not too bad, a hilly course I did also, a mistake at one point, I think passers by were wondering why I was muttering to myself "Fucking hills....shouldnt have come this fucking way...my legs are killing me......you twat pete!" that kind of shit! lol
Good feeling though, felt good at the end, just want to push the pace on some smaller runs mid week to up my speed for some of the longer runs.
Peace
Hills are death, they ruin your pb time, so no point going for one if its a hilly course in my opinion, unless your crazy! Ideally you should pick a flat course for your personal best, im hoping this half marathon im doind is relatively flat, looking for 1 hour 30 mins for the half marathon this time round, my only best is 1 hour 41 mins (or there-abouts) but that was over a year ago, and im doing loads more training this time, im feeling the benefits already stamina wise.

Nice job guys!
21 or under? Well, you'd have me beat; best I've done is 21:36.![]()
Im just lowering it because he keeps lowering his times in training!
Hows the wind down going for the big one Sal? Glad its easing down I expect, the 18 weeks (or whatever you do) training can become slightly brain numbing, looking forward to race day no doubt?
Lets us know when it is Sal, so we can wish you all the best![]()
Thanks meng, will do. May 3rd is marathon day in Eugene, good ol' Prefontaine territory.
The taper is going well so far; I ran with a couple members of our company "team" on Thursday evening, and I had a great tempo run. A couple sub-7:00 miles thrown in there. You always run faster with others. The competition thing, as I know you completely understand. They ran by themselves while I did my speed workout there at the park. They're coming along.
Now I have four today, and 12 tomorrow. 12 will seem like a rest compared to the 20's we've been doing. Then less mileage next week, and 8 next Sunday. The week of the race will feature just a couple light jogs of maybe three miles tops.
you guys are beastin...im likin it tho, keeps me motivated. Plus, this girl im kickin it with is training for her first half-marathon, so it keeps me from complaining about my runs.
So, sals race is may 3rd, myne is may 2nd, whens yours peter?
Good going Sal, sub 7 min miles eh? I usually do those off the start line and pay for it later on, something I have to correctIm sure 12 will seem like a walk in the park, literally, compared to the high mileage you have been doing lately. Im must admit, Im not looking forward to my first marathon, well, I am, but Im not, if you understand. The mental exhaustion must be intense, continually pushing yourself to run day after day, especially when you really dont feel like it, its intense. I think I can get away with it (Maybe skipping a day, although I have been very good lately) with the half's Im doing, but not when I step up to the full marathon. Kudos to you Sal for having the mental, and physical apptitude to complete the training and the race itself
