    Khaosai Galaxy

How does he fare against these:

How do any of the following fair against Galaxy? Tapia, Johnson, Vic, Montiel,Donaire,Mijares, Arce?

Anyone from Flyweight capable of stepping up and doing the business? Canto, Perez,Laciar, Kingpetch et al

    Thoughts? Opinions?

after doing further research...watching fights, analyzing records...

I stand by my point. Galaxy has the most padded record and career ive ever seen in my life. No way should he be in the HOF. His career is a joke.

Well, I wouldn't go that far.

Raging B(_)ll sent me a DVD with about eight of his fights on it some time ago, and I was anxious to see what this guy was all about.

I wrote at the time that I was a bit underwhelmed, and I still don't think he was worth all the hype I read in the magazines back in the day. They'd write so glowingly about him you'd think he was Superman.

You could tell he was a kickboxer before, as he had that trademark little hop-step they all have, and I think his balance suffered for it. As time went on though, his balance became better as he adopted a more standard stance and moved better.

I gotta give the man credit though. He was very VERY strong physically and could punch. And he did fight a couple decent opponents, though I would have to admit as well there aren't many on his ledger.

He was quite good. Just not as good as I'd read about.

Thats it, i feel like this, nowhere near as underwhelming as is made out both here and the other place.

I think Galaxy only really gets a lot of stick in the context how he was rated by the western boxing magazines etc in relation to his peers.

That and the often underwhelming impact he makes on fans seeing him for the first time after reading all the hype.

As said he was still quite a good dangerous fighter one of the better super flyweights.I'd make ihm favourite over most of those guys except tapia, though don't think he would do well against most of his contemporaries like Moon and Watanabe.

His brother was just as good as him imo.Maybe slightly better.

    Cheers guys.

Sal, I was the same after getting 6 fights from Bull of Galaxy, he wasnt what I expected, but after watching the whole of the fights, realised he is a threat to most at that weight IMO. When he opened up he was a dangerous man, although he sometimes took his time about it. His strength was obviously a massive advantage to him, I dont think anyone out muscles him in there.

Im not sure anyone's actually disputing that fact Ill, and yes its all conjecture as to how well he would do against top opposition, but I think he had the tools to beat a fair few at that weight, reagrdless of the opposition that he faced.

Does he deserve the accolades he gets? Im not sure, I havent seen any of those, but my guess is he possibly gets overrated going by some of the things said on here. But that isnt to say he couldnt have given some of these guys hell is it? Just MHO

it disgusts me that he's in the HOF and was on the rings top 10 p4p and in the rings 100 hardest punchers. Looking at his opposition there is no excuse for close decisions or decisions at all.

What close decisions are you talking about? He went 49-1 with 43 KO's. Not a lot of use for judges with his fights.

    Illmatic,

I think you are being a little too harsh on Galaxy, his level of opposition might not be on par with most of his contemporarys but that does not mean that his chances should be dismissed entirely when pitting him against them in fantasy matchups.

From a purely stylistic standpoint alone Galaxy seems easy to out box, but you have to take into account his intangibles such as an iron will, good chin and overall durability along with great physical strenght and punching power as well.

And when you factor those attributes into the equation he ain`t so easy to outbox anymore if you look at him objectively. Khaosay has a good chance at beating several of the men Peter listed, for example I`d favour him over guys like Arce, Kingpetch, Mijares, Montiel, Darchinyan, Donaire and would feel confident in him beating these guys.

But when we start talking about his chances against fellas like Moon, Perez, Canto, Johnson, Watanabe, Laciar and co. I`m not so sure he beats these guys on their best day, although I`d never really rule him out due to his power and strenght combined with his relentless approach. The man was a very good fighter and a hard nights work for anyone, and I think he ought to be given a little bit more credit than you are giviving him at the moment Ill.
