Default If Hatton retired after Paulie

Is he a first ballot Hall of Famer? If not what names could help his resume

I would absolutely love to see Ricky Hatton stick it out a couple more years at 140lbs. If he beat Pauli Malignaggi and the new waves coming up at 140. There are a few prospects coming up the ranks at 140lbs. If he beat him he will prove that he wasn't "overrated" (I really hate that word) at all.

Carlos Ortiz/Torres/Holt/Malignaggi/Figueroa/Peterson etc. He should go for 1 mini reign at 140lbs, I'd love to see him to it if its possible.

Sad thing is..he looked so bad in his last fight, I'm not sure he has it in him anymore - I think his desire is gone.

HoF i think so

1st Ballot? Nope

To me Hatton hasnt done much when he exploded into the elite status after the win over Kosta Tszyu, his best wins after that is a controversial win over Collazo, a past it JLC, and a light fisted Malinaggi(if hes successful).

He talks like his career is unquestioned and wants to retire early to preserve it, quite funny to me actually.

absolutely not..the only thing worth in his resume is tszyu, jlc was already past it time hatton fought him he's been in too many wars. Hatton is still young and i hope he does more for his career, i think he'll fight pac along the way. They both know a huge amount of money is there for the taking

Not a Hall of Famer, though, if they are going to put Gatti in, it makes little sense not to put in much better fighters. Shame the HOF has gone down so much.

If he cleaned out 140 now, he'd be a HOF'er. But essentially having several good wins over decent opposition, a scandalous victory over an aging elite and getting KTFO by the P4P #1 isn't getting you in the HOF. He also has plenty of bad performances, such as the recent one vs. Lazcano and the fights vs. Magee(a british domestic level journeyman) and the heavy hitting Urango.

He never belonged in the top 10 P4P after that showing vs. Collazo anyway. Of course the British posters like to tell you otherwise just out of pride alone and use the excuse 'Hatton got KOed by the P4P #1 and Cotto gets smashed by a basic WW and who's still in the top 10'... ignoring the finer details that Marg would crush Hatton in 3 and Cotto absolutely didn't get 'crushed'.

What do you expect from an arrogant, delusional, backwards Mancunian fool?

His legacy is secured as a British HOF'er, and for the next 30 years his buddies down at the pub can remind him daily and talk of the historical battles vs. Lazcano and Collazo.

Nope & personally I'm tired of Hatton, the sooner he retires the better. He's a right place, right time guy who made fifteen defences of the WBU. I can never forgive him for that.

A win over Malignaggi would get him closer to the hall of fame, but he'd still be a few top notch wins away from it. If he beat Pacquiao, Bradley, and Holt, I'd say yes, but it's unlikely he hangs around that long.

I think Holt could starch him, personally, though I'd probably favour Hatton by TKO all things considered. Headbutt or not, that kill shot he landed on Torres would KTFO most 140 pounders.

I know this is off topic, but I'm suprised Holt got up from the bombs Torres was landing.

Yeah, I've liked Holt for a while, he's a very good fighter. If he had a better chin, he'd be my personal pick over anybody from 135-140 crop. He's a real threat to any of them as it stands anyway, big power, good speed and good boxing skills.

Holt wasn't hurt badly by Torres' shots, but they had him dazed anyway.

The headbutt definitely knocked Torres off balance, but how many times have you seen a headbutt put a guy on queer street? Not many, and that shot Holt landed was absolutey vicious, that showed some serious natural power from Holt.

What it also showed was Holt would take the big risks if he was in a bad spot. Have to respect that in a fighter always.

Definitely favour Holt over Malignaggi... Naggi lacks the power to do anything to him and Holt's a much better boxer.

There are many things I could criticise Hatton for but the main two are-

1. Making 15 defences of the WBU.
2. When he held two thirds of the 140 crown not fighting Mayweather for the last piece. Then subsequently whinging about the weight disadvantage he had when Floyd knocked him out at 147.

He still needs to prove a lot more, I don't think retiring now would be wise when he has a lot to offer unless his performance is really crap or if he loses then that's a different case.

Wow, there is lot of Hatton hate in here.

We are very proud of Ricky because of his attitude outside of the ring, no fighter I can remember has seemed so much like one of us.

As for in the ring; I was at the Lascano fight and yes it was very disappointing however he totally outclassed Paulie and it seems unlikely that he could be beaten at 140. I personally would like to see him stay at 140 at fight Holt/Kotelnik or someone but let's be honest who would pass up the chance to take on DLH or Pacman?
