During Quintana-Julio:
Lennox: "A lot of basketball players like to play basketball".. I think he was trying to say a lot of boxers like to play basketball. There's a lot of other classic Lennox quotes where he points out the obvious, but that one sticks out because I was laughing for about a minute as Quintana was walking into the ring. I also love anytime Lennox says "he was definitely hurt!" when the fighter is completely out on his feet. He even does it during replays.

Edison Miranda vs Allan Green - Round 10
Lennox Lewis: "His legs are gone, he cannot move. I don't think he's going to get up" Larry Merchant: "Nah, he'll make it" Lennox Lewis: "...NO!" One second later, Green gets up. ------------ Gotta love the Rahman-Maskaev II ending. IT'S OOOVAAA! IT IS OVA! |

I seriously think there are 8 year old kids out there who could provide more interesting analysis during a fight than Lennox. Every once in a while he says something insightful, but usually it's just obvious statements with horrible grammar followed by silly reactions and more obvious statements.

"He's landing with his jab and anytime you can land your jab, you're doing a good job." Thanks Lennox, we know. |

It's always been funny to me that during the Lennox-Tyson fight promotion, Lennox was the smart one and Tyson was the idiot, but Tyson actually spoke/speaks a lot more intelligently than Lennox does. I don't think Lennox is a dumb guy or anything, but he has absolutely no command of the English language and probably doesn't care too much about doing these broadcasts well. Tyson would be a much better commentator. I remember hearing him a few times as a guest commentator and he had a lot of interesting things to say, plus he knows a lot of boxing history. The only problem is his voice. |

And a "definitely" count could be another edition. He's using it less now though. In his definitely prime, he was using it a ridiculous amount of times.. literally at least 25 times a fight.

Here's a serious one that just always gives me goosebumps. It's from the BBC commentary on The Rumble In The Jungle:
"He's got him! He's got him!....And I don't think Foreman's going to get up!! Oh my God, he's won the title back at thirty-two!" |

Haha, yeah, if a heavyweight started boxing like Muhammad now, people would probably be confused as they were the first time around. "Heavyweight's just don't move like that." |
