he can take out many different styles. But Darchinyan's combination of brute power and unorthodox rythmn will always cause problems to Mijares because he couldn't really adjust to Darchinyan's power too well at all. I don't really think he can beat Doniare at all anymore, Doniare is a freaking beast for that weight class man.

I still haven't seen it. However, if he didn't establish his jab he had no shot. Sure Vic hits very hard, but that jab will keep him off balance at least a bit and give Mijares the time to move and roll a bit.
In the few highlights I saw, he did something which I thought was crazy. He would get hit then pull straight back. Vic would come on like a train and drop him. |

Maybe I'm buggin when I say this but when he got knock down in the first round he seemed like he was conteplating on just staying down for a quick second.

I think one of the noticable punches that was being thrown in this game was Darchinyan's nasty ass left uppercut that he throws. He knows that a lot of times Mijares like to allude punches by just ducking his head straight down right under hooks etc, But Darchinyan made sure that he was following his shit up with uppercuts. Mijares felt that danger all night long and it was one of the key factors in why he just wouldn't open up, it was mainly just the weird ass angles that Darchinyan was throwing his shots from.

Mijares is gonna be fine, he got his head handed to him but it wasn`t so bad that he won`t recover from it. My guess is that he and his camp seriously underestimated Vic and figured they were going to beat this guy going away and toy with him all night while outpointing him easily.
They made a big mistake in assuming that Vic is an easy mark, because even though he likes to brawl and gets wild with his shots he is awkward as hell and very, very strong in close. Donaire and his camp studied him very well and figured out exactly how to move and counter him, but Mijares and his people did not and it came back to bite them in the ass in spectacular fashion. Gotta give Vic credit though, he showed some noticeable improvements in his game this past Saturday. One thing that really stood out for me with Vic was that he kept Mijares turning all night, he usually fights a bit more straight than he did this weekend but this little change paid its dividends and kept Mijares from getting set all night. I did not however like the way he brought his left foot wildly forward when he punched, but he got the job done anyway and thats what counts. Vic kinda reminds of Rocky Graziano a bit in the way he fights and throws his left hand, he keeps throwing it over and over again until it lands and he changes the way and angle he throws them to confuse his opponents. Gotta admit though I did not see the end result coming at all, I figured like most people that Mijares was gonna win this fight big but boy was I wrong. Mijares looked to me like he never recovered from that first KD, and as others have pointed out it looked for a spilt second as if he was contemplating staying down too. Once he got back up from that kd and after a few more rounds went by it became apparent to me that Mijares was not in Vic's league strengthwise and it made him very conservative offense-wise as a result. Vid dominated the fight most of the way and it was only a matter of time before Mijares succumbed to all that punishment he was taking. Frankly I am surprised he lasted as long as he did as he was taking some heavy leather in most of the rounds including several thunderous straight left hands to the body which sounded like shotgun blasts when they landed, those really took the steam out of him as the fight wore on. Anyway, full credit to Vic for his dominating performance and hopefully Mijares can come back with his mind and body healed and shows us all what he is really capable of, although even then Vic`s combination of strenght and power might see him defeat Mijares yet again. I`ll say though that going by this past weekends performance my opinion of Mijares chances against the likes of Khaosay Galaxy and especially Sung Kil Moon have dropped significantly. Both men were kayo punchers at the weight and were very active and in Moon`s case awkward too with all those punches in bunches coming from a myriad of angles, and Mijares just doesn`t look strong enough or defensively savvy to ward off all the incoming that will be coming his way from these two. |

Well I was banned for a while & didn't post any predictions about this fight. But while watching the 1st rd Vic Knocking down mijares, I made my conclusion right away that Vic will eventually Finish him.
The difference between Donaire & Mijares is KO Power. Both of these are skilled boxer but Mijares fight the wrong fight. He should have used his legs to stay away from Vic & counter punch all night. Donaire already show the Blue print on how to Beat Vic but Mijares didn't even try to do the same. Vic Did his Homework & he looks good doing it. But still I believe Donaire has his Number. |
