Can someone please fill me in. I was in D.C on Sat. for birthday party and missed it. I come back on Sunday and I read that he got dominated and eventually laid out. Did Mijares come out flat? Was Darchinyan just too strong for him? What about Dirrel? How did he look?

Mirajes made Pavlik look like a saint. He could stop Vic's left at all, uppercuts, straight lefts, and krazy ass body shots all night. He kd Mirajes in the 1st with a uppercut I believe. Then in the 9th it was all over. One-sided action all day

there was a little green man in the corner, they put too much vaseline on Mijares legs, Mijares ate some bad oysters the night before, Mijares was weight drained, Vic's camp made Mijares wear the wrong gloves, Mijares had a blister on his toe, and Mijares was up all night the night before with Japanese women.

Mijares seemed like he had just had sex(and ejaculated 3 times) with three women 10 minutes before he stepped into the ring. He seemed zapped of power and energy.
He clearly didn't have the right mindset for this fight. As arrogantly as he came into the fight, as embarrassing was his performance. Vic had no fear of him, and everything was on his premise.

Perhaps, but the really good fighters will most likely find some way to counteract a mere inconvenience like that. Especially one that is supposed to be able to do so many different things. If that were the only factor, he'd box, disrupt Vic's rhythm with the jab (which he never seemed to do) and find a way out of danger, even if it didn't necessarily mean winning the fight. Mijares just stood there and took everything Darchinian threw. His only answer was to try to bang back, my guess at the time being that it was because he simply didn't have the legs to do anything else. |

I was both impressed and deceived. Impressed by Vic performance, I don't think I saw him that focused on a match (the man relied too much on his power before the Donaire fight). And I was stunned by Mijares, I never thought he would be dominated and eventually stopped as easily.
Vic style is very difficult to figure out and that was probably half the reason of the outcome, but Mijares was supposed to be the man to adapt to any style and find a way through out the fight. But this time he just couldn't. I don't know why. |
