What with Kessler's recent comments I thought I would get everyone's opinion. My order of preference would be thus-
1) Rematch with Joke 2) Dawson 3) Kessler 4) Rematch with Taylor Hopkins has said if he fights again it will be soon which is the right move because it keeps him fresh off a good performance. |

I would love to see that fight with Kessler and Hop to tell the truth. If a Dawson fights with Calzaghe doesnt pop off. Why not fight the ones in a rematch who gave you a hard time. But if a Joe fight can happen, its all good.
Hop will not fight Dawson I dont believe Is this your first thread? |

I would like to see him back in with Calzaghe. I loved that fight and I wonder. I would favour any version of Hopkins with 12 good rounds in his lungs to beat Joe. Maybe he knows what is needed now.

A Dawson fight would be the only fight I would get excited for. A Calzaghe rematch is pointless IMO. That was Joe on a pretty bad night and he still won about 8-9 rounds in a very annoying, dirty fight. The only time Calzaghe-Hopkins would have truly meant something was quite a few years ago. I think Hopkins either needs to fight Dawson or retire.. maybe Kessler too, but Dawson is a much more interesting matchup and a fight he actually has a realistic chance in.

to be realistic, I dont think he really has any options.
He is going to go after older guys with big names or limited guys with big names. He isn't going to fight up n coming stars for chump change Kessler- no name Dawson- no name RJJ- no money in it anymore Calz- won't fight a rematch Wright- already beat Tarver- already beat Pavlik- already beat DLH- wont fight him again Trinidad- hmmm....... ...he'll fight Trinidad.

A big part of me wants Hopkins to hang up the gloves. He is still an competitive fighter, but his mere presence disrupts those fights that were supposed to happen, because he is a big name, and fighters would rather face him than someone at their own division.
I read this morning, that according to Kessler and team Palle their priorities are like this: 1. Calzaghe 2. Hopkins 3. Taylor/Lacy. To me it just seems like he wants to face Hopkins over ie Taylor is that he will gain more recognition in doing so. Same can be said of the Wright, Tito, DLH, Calzaghe, and Pavlik fights. People moving up just to face this old fighter - most of it because they will gain alot of respect for facing him, and he them for facing younger fighters. I want this shit to stop really. Boxing isn't supposed to be a circus, but should be fights between fighters that are top ranks in the given divisions, and not chasing of name fighters. So who do I want Hopkins to face next? RJJ and then both can hang up their gloves, so the young people can fight each other again...

I agree but nothing could be more of a circus than what we witnessed on Saturday. I take on board on what you say about Kessler, and even said so in the thread about him calling out Bernard, but Hopkins isn't an ordinary 43 year old and is still considered one of the best at 175 so surely a rematch with Joke or a fight with Dawson can be considered legitimate. What are the names of these other fighters that should be getting shots at the aforementioned fighters over Hopkins?

Pavlik should have turned his attention to AA, Calzaghe should have rematched Kessler, or fought Dawson, Wright had no business at LHW, and should have rematched Taylor(since it was highly controversial), Tito had no business there with Hopkins, nor RJJ(against Calzaghe), nor DLH. This circle jerking, where each get highly recognized for facing each other, when it is quite obvious that they are faded versions of former selves. Hopkins only stayed competitive with Calzaghe because he refused to box, and just turned it into an ugly fight. He looked good vs Pavlik, who isn't really an outstanding boxer, nor has he previously been higher than 164. RJJ, Hopkins, Pavlik, Miranda, DLH, Tarver, Wright and Taylor are no where near the level of their names/hype - its rediculous that this circus goes on. I hope that Kessler never faces Hopkins, because its a fucking joke to me. He should fight Calzaghe, Dawson, Bute, Froch/Pascal, Inkin which are all more relavant fights. Same goes for Oscar - the fact that Pacman wants to have a piece of him, and vice versa is a fucking circus. Let it stop...

When Hopkins fought Tarver, who was more deserving and an outstanding candidate at that time? I don't know his name. If Kessler wants to stay at 168, as I think he should, he will get to face the other contenders/beltholders there. I really don't see why you're being so negative. |

The reasons why Kessler thinks Hopkins is viable is for the reason that the networks will think this fight is viable; it's a fight that they would want to happen. Who was more deserving than a Hopkins that just came off two losses at 160? Anyone who fought at LHWs top 10 really... Stop being an idiot.
