Highly disagree that it would be a true boxing lesson, especially against Calzaghe who has remarkable adaptability, the workrate to trouble Dawson when he takes his usual breaks, and great handspeed of his own. After Calzaghe gets into a groove, it's hard to time his in-and-out movements and even harder to fight a perfect fight against him because he's always making subtle changes and giving different looks. Not saying Dawson couldn't win. I think he can, but a boxing lesson? As in completely outclass, somewhere along the lines of 9-3 or 10-2...don't see it at all.

His entire fight vs Tarver is on youtube, jump on and have a look.
Tremendously talented fighter, still improving as well. Along with Gamboa, the biggest potential to do great things in the sport. Especially if he can grab victories over Calzaghe and Kessler. His biggest weakness will be his chin... The rest will come in time with experience. |

I haven't seen enough of Chad Dawson to answer my own question. But who impresses you in terms of over all versatility and their ability to adapt? Miguel Cotto is somewhat more proven no? From what I've seen of Dawson so far I'd say Cotto but I really haven't seen enough of Dawson to know.

Dawson is naturally bigger than Calzaghe also, as well as having faster hands and longer reach, with more punching power. Very different fight to marg v Cotto. Although i can see some similarities in both chin and workrate between Cotto and Dawson, the comparsion you have made between Marg and Calzaghe is a poor one. |
