Wow I have never seen this division deep like this I think its next to impossible for a fighter to clean out this division. Has 154 surpassed 147? I think the only issue with this division is star power 147 has that in Cotto and Margarito, other than that competition wise this is a hard core boxing fan dream. So many different clashes of styles too you got boxers, brawlers, etc.

Hell yea bro, I've been saying this for a while 154lbs has the potential to make so many good match ups and now we're finally realizing it now that 147lbs never really materialized anyways.

Martirosyan is an up-and-comer. Better than Ronald Hearns, but not as good as Angulo IMO. Good long-range boxer, good right hand, but looks a little distressed when faced with pressure.
Your list really puts into perspective how deep the division is. Alcine should be considered a top 10 guy as well, even though I haven't heard anything about him since he was knocked cold by Santos. |

What about Hoya? Once he realises there could be money with some smart marketing....
The guy is a fool - he could give some good fights, and make a lot of money by going for 154..

I love Hoya and everything but this division at this stage of his career is his worst nightmare, I think he is already entertaining the idea of fighting the smaller Hatton. I do think if Margarito gets past Mosley and Cotto again he should consider moving up himself.

As for Margo moving to 154...I could see it happening after those fights, as you said, but not before. Only because if he does move up, the fight that still makes the most sense is the rematch with Williams...a fight he and his people obviously dont want any part of. |

we see this happen a lot, the division over the best division becomes the best after a couple years.
Remember when we said 140 was the best with Tszyu, Hatton, Cotto, Harris, Abdullaev, Pinto, Ricardo Williams, Panchito Bojado, Gatti, Leija, Camacho Jr, etc.? Then a couple years later, 147 was the best with Cotto, Mosley, Mayweather, Margo, Williams, Berto, etc,. Now its moving to 154. We saw it when the best fighters of 126 started moving to 130 a few years ago.

168 is getting potentially very interesting now - although the problem is that kessler is still considered the big top dog - whereas with 140, 147 and 154 now - there is no clear top dog...
