I was going to make a thread, but ill just add it to this one. Has any fighter ever jumped weight divisions to beat a solid fighter (DLH in this case)? Cause Pac had just arrived at 135, then skipped JW and went straight to WW. Can anyone think of another fighter that did this with success (keep in mind im talking about jumping straight to a solid fighter)? I couldn't think of one

How about what Jones did to Ruiz?

175lbs to 200+ against a solid opponent is amazing. Doesn't get enough credit for it.

As for Duran....I was talking about a prime fighter jumping up 2-3 weight classes to fight a solid guy (and have any sort of success). Duran had been campaining at MW well before he fought Barkley. Jones/Ruiz could be a good example though.

Basically im just wondering if anyone has ever done what Pac is doing with any sort of success

Michael Spinks made the jump for Holmes. Also there was no CW at all but its still a big jump.

Rocky Marciano was like 185 at his best dropping giants.

Hop skip SMW straight to Tarver.
