I don't watch the show all the time, but I don't hate it either. That's because it actually got some of my non-boxing fan friends into the sport a bit, and when I tell them to check out regular boxing on TV now, they are more likely to listen to me. Something about the format of The Contender attracts some new people to the sport. Must be all the human interest stuff.

I have also heard before that its from the "ding" the bell makes, and something about how his opponents wont hear it the next round. That one sounds made up,,,,but ya never know. Someone on esb should ask him
