Wtf, anyone hear this news? I saw it on fightnews. Anyone know what the hell happened, and if the fight is in jeopardy? I'm guessing it will go on, but what a shame that the titles won't be on the line. Guzmans luck never fails....

Guzman came in overweight and decided to not get back on the scale (probably because he didn't think he could make the weight at this point and didn't want to risk his health draining like crazy at the last moment only to come in a little over again). Nate is of course going to fight Guzman anyways, he's not the type of guy who would cancel it because of this, especially since Guzman is the smaller man in this fight.
Fucking disappointing as hell. I was having dreams about this fight and I was excited like you can't imagine to see it, now I'm bummed about it. Was having a good day too, now it completely changed my mood. On ESB, Guzman is getting shit all over by everybody. But nobody knows what actually happened and why he came in overweight for the first huge fight of his career that he's wanted for so long. There might be a good excuse for this, might not be. Maybe the new strength training impacted him, maybe the time off he took from training a few months ago when he was with his sick mother did. Who knows, there's no point of even discussing it if we know nothing about it.. everyone insulting Guzman and calling him lazy, a joke, etc. is silly though IMO, but what else would you expect with boxing fans on the internet. The best outcome now for Guzman will be a close, very exciting fight tomorrow night that he wins (or a 1st round KO win wouldn't be bad either!), so there is a high demand for a rematch. I have a feeling Guzman might get robbed though. Don King running the show in Mississippi doesn't exactly sound like a situation where Guzman will be treated fairly by judges, especially in a fight that should have a lot of close rounds where Campbell is the aggressor. I hope you didn't put too much money on Guzman. I've included him in some small parlays, but I didn't go anywhere near big on him since the fight was made because of the odds not being great and the possibility of a Campbell gift decision being high. Also, because I consider Campbell the #2 best H2H fighter at 135. The only thing that fucking sucks is that I put Guzman in every small parlay that I had Prescott in last week. Those pay out HUGE with very little put in. Oh well, I don't even give a shit about this right now. I can't even tell you how disappointed I am about the whole situation.. so fucking pumped up for this fight, then this happens. It's unbelievable how something always has to go wrong pre-fight with either Guzman or his opponents. Damn, it's like he's fucking cursed or something. I still think Guzman will win, but I am very worried, much more than before obviously. I don't question Guzman's motivation, I'm just worried that something health-wise could have happened during the last few weeks or something. Hopefully we will see a great fight with good scoring and a rematch. Both Campbell and Guzman deserve the best in their careers for taking this fight and being true warriors. Guzman UD, hopefully.

don't pay attention to those dipshits. anyways it just shocks me that he moves up in weight and he still missed the mark. He either built more muscle than he thought or something and he couldn't get the weight off. OR he got confident because he had an extra 5lbs to burn and he miscalculated the time he needed to burn off the weight. If the latter is the case, then imagine how hard it was for him to make 130lbs if he has problems getting to a weight 5lbs north? |

Here's an article with Floyd Sr. talking about the situation after the weighin: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Floyd Sr. says the blame is on the strength coach. Who knows.. just a sad situation and another shitty moment in Guzman's career. |

as long as it doesn't happen again his career should be ok. But it will stain this win if he does pull out the win even though he is the smaller guy. I also think that this is going to be a very very difficult fight for Guzman.

Yeh Jex 130 must have been (and obviously was) killing him, as evidenced by coming into the Soto fight at 148
![]() I agree that his best bet was to just skip the second chance. Reports claim that he was 4lbs over, and diuretics or other methods probably would have just fucked him over for tomorrow. Best of luck to Guzman, he is one of my favs. I saw tons of people picking Campbell for the late KO when I was searching for more info. My pick still stands at Guzman for the KO in the 6-8 range. Risky I know, but im sticking with it Btw Huki; I don't have much money on Guzman. The odds were never there and like you said this is a dangerous fight for him. I have him in small parlays and a small wager on the under rounds (for that hunch I have) |

Alright, I need to get off these forums. I was having a good day up until I saw the first fightnews update that Guzman was way over. Then I spent hours refreshing news sites and forums. No way to be spending a Friday night. Time to get the hell out of here. Later. Go Guzman! Hopefully he will be at his best tomorrow. |

It is Guzman.. until proven otherwise to me. Can't favor Pac, JMM, Casa, Diaz, Campbell, or anyone else over him, even though he's never fought at 135 (and still won't after tomorrow). Later guys!

ok i've just read it today, and its kinda weird i mean this is his suppose to be first fight at a higher weight and he can't make it. I just hope campbell doesn't get strip for all his hard work, he hasn't fought and defended those titles for months now. Plus there would be nothing on the line for this fight, even if guzman wins i can't say that he is a 3 division world champ now or should be rank #1 at LW. I'm dissapointed by this news, i don't know whats up but he should have made that weight, those titles are his ticket to stardom and to bigger things.
He might even catch up to pacquiao and join the welterweight ranks already ![]() guzman-margo, guzman-cotto,guzman-floyd or guzman-hatton damn that would be good |
